In Which the Ringmaster Lists More Cinematographs
A couple more TV reviews for ya (although none are available on American TV or DVD)
Terry Pratchett's The Hogfather - A TV masterpiece. I wish The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was even a pale shadow of this movie. Pratchett is one of the few fantasy writers I enjoy (along with R.A. Salvatore and Piers Anthony,) and if anyone had told me that they could make a GOOD movie out of Discworld, I would have expected them to screw it up (or totally overblow it like the Harry Potter movies,) but for a two part miniseries, it was absolutely fantastic! It aired on Sky One before Christmas. In the Colonies, don't miss it in whatever format you can find it!
Doctor Who Cardiff Concert 2006 - A Celebration - I didn't see this one coming. A fundraiser for the BBC Children in Need program, held in the Wales Millennium Centre(above the Torchwood HQ, and across the street from a space/time rift, if you watch the show!) The orchestra plays music from the show written by Murray Gold. Hosted by David Tennant, it's an incredibly good show with cameos from several Doctor Who monsters from series 1 and 2. I will buy the soundtrack, that's a gimme.
BBC and Sky are really putting out some great shows these days. Being the Doctor Who geek I've grown into, I am super excited about The Sarah Jane Adventures on New Year's Day!
Update: The Jettix Europe and Park Entertainment are developing ANOTHER Doctor Who spinoff! Are you sitting down? K-9 Adventures!
Since the BBC have passed on it, don't expect much crossover with the Doctor Who universe.
Jetix used to be known as Fox Kids in the US, then it was bought by Disney for it's Toon Disney network. They produce the Power Rangers and still own The Tick.
