Serenity RPG

At a space station on Bernadette two travelers meet. Jim Liv, a digital technician and artist, and Dr. Ruth Livingston, a college professor, initially grate on each other. They are surprised by a small man smartly dressed wearing a bowler hat.
"I am Octavio Hermes," he said with a formal British accent, "Would you be interested an employment opportunity?"
Intrigued, they followed him through the cargo and luggage warehouse to a small enclosed docking platform. Immediately, the lights go out. Hermes informs them that he has a laser pistol aimed at them. He then informs them that they were not chosen randomly, however, they did have a choice, accept employment from his employer or die on the spot. Given little choice, they accept the job. Suddenly they are both injected with a mysterious serum.
"The serum now coursing through your veins is a toxin. It will take one week to kill you if you don't get the antitoxin available only on this ship."
Bright lights flare into their faces, spotlights from a ship. Hermes has apparently left, instead, the voice of an older man chokes through laughter.
"Are you three days or one-weekers," the voice asks.
"What?"
"Will the toxin kill ya in a week or three days?"
Jim stammers, "Ahh...I don't know."
"Well, I guess we'll find out soon enough."
Jim, furious at the fact that everything was spiring out of his control punched the captain. He shook the punch off and knocked Jim unconscious with a single punch.
"Ma'am, shall I show you to your quarters?"
"I suppose I have little choice, " Dr. Ruth replied.
