End of the Year Birding Pt 2.5 - Birded myself sick
A nasty cold almost sidelined me near the end of my birding binge over the New Year's Holiday. Just because I birded myself sick is no reason not to go back to Huntington Beach, SC this weekend...right? I leave tomorrow and will be returning Monday evening. I will try to do a live update since I have free Internet access in the room. Best Westerns kick ass! Free Internet, Continental Breakfast (somewhat), and $39 rooms!
I did get 3 life birds over the holiday - Bachman's Sparrow (12/27/05), Red-cockaded Woodpecker (12/27/05), and Painted Bunting (12/28/05). The Bachman's Sparrow and Red-cockaded Woodpecker are endangered species and were seen in the Santee NWR while the Painted Bunting was a surprise feeder bird (female and unusual in winter) was seen in Huntington Beach State Park. All life birds were along the South Carolina coast.
I have a lot to post when I have some free time again. A few of my pics from last week at the beach turned out pretty good so I will post them, with hopefully with some more from this coming weekend, in my gallery from the beach.
